Abstract

The operation of economic incentives in socialism is bound up with the nature of its characteristic productive relations, which in the first phase of development require — by reason of the limitation of consumption in the interests of growth — that the distribution of personal income (and hence of incentives) be effected only in accordance with the quantity and quality of labour rendered.1
