Crecimiento económico y evolución de los salarios en el Perú: 1998-2012

Abstract

La economía peruana mostró entre 1998 y 2012 un rápido crecimiento acompañado de una mejora en la composición de la fuerza laboral en términos de capital humano (educación y experiencia). Sin embargo, el salario real promedio permaneció prácticamente constante. Mostramos que el estancamiento salarial está asociado a la disminución de los retornos a la educación y, en menor medida, a la experiencia. Exploramos el papel de la oferta relativa de trabajadores con diferentes niveles de capital humano como una explicación de la disminución de la prima salarial de la educación. También discutimos las implicaciones de los cambios en los salarios relativos de distintos grupos de trabajadores para la desigualdad de ingresos, la participación laboral y la productividad total de los factores.
