Abstract

El objetivo de este capítulo es proporcionar un panorama completo de la situación actual del sistema educativo peruano y ofrecer una visión de futuro ambiciosa pero factible. La principal contribución de este escrito proviene de las comparaciones entre esta situación actual y los escenarios posibles para los próximos cincuenta años. En el primer apartado se muestran las tendencias de largo plazo del progreso educativo de los últimos cincuenta años. En el segundo y tercero, se ilustra la evolución en los últimos diez años de los indicadores de cobertura y calidad del sistema educativo. Luego, se proyecta cuál sería la situación de la educación peruana dentro de cincuenta años de seguirse una tendencia inercial y se proponen metas para alcanzar una posición junto a los países líderes en educación a nivel mundial. Finalmente, se discuten prioridades de políticas para enrumbar el sistema educativo peruano hacia las metas propuestas.
