Abstract

A escala global la producción de alimentos ha sido uno de los sectores que más ha mejorado en aspectos tecnológicos y rendimiento, gracias a la inversión en investigación y desarrollo a escala planetaria, aunque los avances tecnológicos han beneficiado más a los países desarrollados (Fuglie, 2017). Se trata de uno de los sectores más competitivos y que más se han presionado por la creciente demanda global, ante una población cercana a los 8.1 mil millones de personas (WM, 2023). No obstante, el producto del aumento en los rendimientos no se ha distribuido de manera equitativa (Steensland, 2019). Los pequeños y medianos productores han implementado distintas estrategias para mejorar sus condiciones de producción y de vida, entre las que destacan los cambios en los patrones de cultivos por agricultura tecnificada.
