A Life Lesson Learned from Flood: An Overview of Disaster Management

Flood is considered as one of the mostly accepted one of the often-occurred natural disasters than other. Heavy economic loss and livestock damages by this disaster (flood) put more burden on economy than any other natural disasters for both the human beings and the government. Due to the climate change, cloud burst/thunder storming, tsunami, poor river management, silting, improper drainage, human encroachment, etc., flood swallow all the things in its flown area. India has poorly suffered many flood-based disasters frequently. Disaster management in India has been well organized and improving with good structure programs and having many policies. But at the same time, the implementation of these needs in demand of more efficiency with accuracy and also an improved plan has to be generated that it is being revised continuously. Human beings are experienced in their life by nature where they have been taught that practice makes perfect and it is most probably unreasonable to expect everything to be in right way during disaster management. In this chapter, we will discuss about various flood disaster in India with learned lesson from flood disasters.
