Abstract

This chapter examines the impact of Saxbys cafes on on-campus experiential learning in post-secondary settings, and offers overlap with the eight skills, attitudes, and behaviors that the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship associates with the entrepreneurial mindset. Beginning with an exploration of Saxbys typical processes, the chapter incorporates undergraduate student reflections regarding how the experience can help to develop comfort with risk, opportunity recognition skills, greater flexibility and adaptability, initiative and self-reliance, creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem skills, communication and collaboration skills, as well as a future orientation.
