Experiential learning approaches in university entrepreneurship education: a systematic review

This chapter explores experiential approaches to entrepreneurship education, documenting them and discussing their impact on higher education students. It presents a systematic literature review based on peer-reviewed articles in English dealing with university entrepreneurship programs based on experiential learning. The results show a diversity of experiential approaches sharing common practices, notably activities related to business plans and interactions with entrepreneurs. These methods improve students’ skills, knowledge, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, and engagement in learning. However, their effects on enterprise creation are less documented. Through these findings, this chapter guides entrepreneurship educators on which experiential methods to prioritize according to pedagogical objectives. It provides indications of the entrepreneurial behaviors expected of learners. It thus helps to select the most appropriate approaches for achieving specific learning objectives in entrepreneurship.
