Abstract

Entrepreneurship education in Spanish secondary education has substantially developed since 2006. It was initially oriented towards a narrower interpretation focused on productivity, job insertion and self-employment. In turn, a broader approach has more recently been implemented, focusing on the development of entrepreneurial competences. This chapter aims to explain how these two different entrepreneurship education programs impact the development of students’ entrepreneurship attitudes. These programs are EJE (Young European Enterprise, a narrow-focused start-up program) and PEIEO (Development of the Entrepreneurial Potential in Adolescents). The authors analyze the pedagogical bases of both programs and their impact on the participating students’ entrepreneurship potential. The results clearly indicate that the PEIEO program has a significant impact on developing entrepreneurship attitudes. This has most relevant implications for the Spanish educational system. The competence development approach seems clearly more adequate within the secondary school level.
