Abstract

This chapter aims to shed light on the technological space of B Corps that have developed green patents. Our analysis of the 17,933 patent applications filed by B Corps worldwide revealed that European countries lead the way in terms of patent quantity, with over 50% of the total. Despite this, we found that patents related to environmental concerns are still a relatively small portion, numbering only 696 in total. For managers seeking to work in a supportive environment for the development of green technologies, it is important to note that one in four innovative B Corps are also focused on green innovation. This suggests that the B Corp community can be seen as a rich source of opportunity for those looking to advance green technology.
