Abstract

Education technology developments continue to make inroads into higher education, and many traditional classroom environments are becoming more technology-enabled, interactive and flexible. Technologies that facilitate flexible digital learning approaches, which include hybrid and HyFlex, challenge traditional educational concepts around modality, place and time. In this chapter, I will look first at the technologies that can support this change, and what is meant by terms such as hybrid and HyFlex. I will then offer some thoughts on how these new approaches and technologies can be used together to ensure an effective and equitable learning experience for all. The chapter concludes with a series of suggestions for future hybrid teaching aimed at producing a rich learner experience.
