Abstract

China has become a significant contributor to the international community of technology assessment (TA) with the recent progress of relevant research and practices. Meanwhile, China’s TA research has also presented comprehensive attributes regarding the Chinese policy context. Research topics relevant to TA, including governance of research integrity, research ethics, Responsible Research & Innovation (RRI), and Open Science, have been integrated into China’s policy system with varying degrees of progress. However, to be developed as a comprehensive discipline, TA still demands more theoretical discussions and empirical studies in China. Therefore, we intend to review the progress of TA research (e.g., in the domain of Artificial Intelligence governance) in China from a systematic perspective. Consequently, regarding best practices of RRI and Open Science, we provide a preliminary analysis basis for the knowledge exchange and academic discussion of TA in an international context through a comprehensive review of TA research in China.
