Interdisciplinarity and future studies

In: Handbook of Interdisciplinary Teaching and Administration

Abstract

One critical topic that can usefully be addressed in an interdisciplinary course or program is our collective future. Our students are naturally curious about what the future might look like and how they might shape it. Scholarship in the field of future studies has advanced to a point where it is straightforward to teach about the future. This chapter summarizes some key characteristics of future studies, and then provides advice on how to teach about the future.
