Abstract

The World Health Organisation reported in 2022, healthier environments could prevent almost one quarter of the global burden of disease. People’s health is being impacted upon by the chemicals released in the atmosphere through industrial processes, and through the use of chemical products in agriculture, as these find their way in the air we breathe, in water and in the food chains. More attention should be given to the quality of these resources in the living environment, so as to preserve health. With the growing impacts of climate change, the delicate balance of the living environment and health is strongly being felt and is consequently receiving due consideration nowadays. As the temperature rises, vector borne diseases are expected to increase and as flooding problems affect more people, disease outbreaks are growing. All are interlinked, hence the need for environmental health impacts to be highlighted in a holistic manner.
