Abstract

This case addresses the quandary faced by Laurent and Anne Garnier, founders and owners of Tech Inc., a successful European-based company providing support services for companies in systems infrastructure. The problem they face involves potential succession and the role of their only son, Luc. Luc works at Tech Inc.; however, he shows problematic behaviors, which call for action, perhaps intervention or even an exit from the firm. This occurs at a time when Laurent and Anne have decided to transfer shares to Luc and his sister Sophie. Sophie is married to Paul, who is managing director of Tech Inc. The relationship between Paul and Luc has become tense at work.
