Abstract

COVID-19 created changes and challenges in both work and family domains influencing the wellbeing of individuals. This chapter discusses work-life balance (WLB) of Sri Lankan dual-earner couples who worked from home (WFH) during COVID-19. Using an interpretive approach, interviews with 29 individuals from dual-earner couples who worked from home were analysed. We found several personal, work, and culture and country-related factors that affected individuals’ WLB when WFH. Moreover, there were positive and negative consequences of WFH on WLB experienced by individuals with no prior WFH experiences. We extend literature by identifying strategies that individuals used in managing WLB when WFH using Role and Border Theories. We provide insights for organisations to manage WFH that is likely to persist in the future.
