Abstract

As the pressure to secure research funding increases, academics face the challenge of competing for limited resources. This chapter provides general advice on obtaining funding, acknowledging the abundance of online guidance available on grant applications. Key tips include following instructions, aligning projects with funding body interests, demonstrating a strong track record, proposing innovative research goals, emphasizing broad impacts and resolving problems effectively. The chapter emphasizes the importance of strategic grant writing and highlights the need to balance time spent on applications with other scholarly activities. It also discusses the significance of research credibility within academic communities, collaboration with successful grant writers and maintaining communication with funding agencies. Additionally, it emphasizes the value of sharing outcomes with funding organizations to justify their support and strengthen one’s position within the scholarly community.
