Study on the cognitive differences of SDGs among Chinese university students based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory

Abstract

In order to understand the status quo of Chinese university students’ cognition of sustainable development goals (SDGs) and to find out the countermeasures for the development of sustainable education in universities in the future, this study collected the survey data of 327 Chinese university students through a questionnaire. The results show that Chinese university students have a preliminary understanding of SDGs. The cognition of SDGs among students with different educational backgrounds shows significant differences. In view of this, the study suggests that higher education should keep in alignment with the development of education for sustainable development, improving the teaching level of teachers, and promoting the transformation of higher education.
