Abstract

Sustainability is becoming more important for all companies across all industries. Over the past few decades, it has emerged as one of the central guiding principles of policy formulation. Its fundamental beliefs underlie the current role and practices of business. Many businesses are seemingly keen today to develop strategies meant to foster company longevity through their sustainability efforts as they strive for long-term value. The chapter explores business’s role with respect to sustainability and the culture change needed to create it. In furtherance of that, it looks at the management implications of sustainability and sustainability’s integration into a strategy that can aid business and society’s concern for posterity. It also addresses the fundamental problems inherent in this.
