Abstract

In this chapter I explore how ethics of care theory can be used to expand and deepen our understanding of how gender is related to corruption in theory as well as in policy praxis. It is often argued that women are less corrupt because they avoid risky behavior. This finding is mainly derived from research on economic risks that has been translated into the area of corruption. Exporting these findings presents potential issues. In addition, I argue there are a number of reasons for this empirical relationship.
