Abstract

This chapter provides an introductory overview of the complexities and significance of international talent management in the context of contemporary global challenges. It emphasizes the multifaceted nature of talent flows, driven by diverse motivations and intersecting with policy landscapes. The chapter outlines the key themes explored in subsequent chapters, including the role of research funding in talent recruitment, intra-company transfers, the potential of immigrant talent, and the impact of geopolitical crises on talent flows. It highlights the increasing politicization of talent acquisition and the need for adaptable policies and sustainable practices. The chapter concludes by synthesizing the key insights from the book, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in harnessing global talent.
