Overcrowding in national parks without entrance fees

Abstract

Twenty two of the 63 national parks do not have an entrance fee, but recreation visit data show that these parks are overcrowded too. Specific examples of such overcrowding are offered. An information model is used to justify a suggested approach for alleviating overcrowding in these parks in lieu of implementing an entrance fee.
