Abstract

This Research Handbook brings together the latest research on the gender implications of COVID-19 impacts on migration, providing an overview of the state of the art in the field while also assessing the future scope of research and scholarly enquiry. The book presents the latest research on migration, gender and COVID-19 through the different stages of the migration cycle, from departure from the country of origin, through migration journeys, up until the arrival and stay in the destination country (including stranded migrants), return to the country of origin and re-migration prospects. It delves into differential gendered implications of COVID-19, with particular emphasis on human rights and socioeconomic factors. It is the first book of its type on the topic, bringing together three mega-issues of our time (COVID-19, migration and gender), and so fills a gap in academic publishing that is likely to be of interest to academic and general audiences alike.
