Abstract

This chapter outlines a structured approach to teaching the need to focus on strategic planning in the context of agritourism, emphasizing the importance of visionary and mission-oriented frameworks to ensure long-term business growth and community benefits. Educators are equipped with methodologies for communicating the importance of detailed planning, from setting visionary goals to tactical implementation. Key aspects include the concepts needed to teach the necessity of developing vision and mission statements, conducting thorough internal and environmental analyses, and developing strategic objectives that are aligned with the overall goals of agritourism projects. The chapter also discusses the importance of teaching about continuous benchmarking and adapting strategies based on best industry practices. Finally, it prepares educators to help future agritourism leaders develop plans that are not only actionable but also adaptable to changing market dynamics and regulatory environments, thereby increasing the longevity and success of agritourism ventures.
