Abstract

Fairness is one of the four good governance principles originally adopted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development; however, it has received little attention in governance research. This chapter investigates the relevance of fairness for the governance of projects and adopts organizational justice as the theoretical lens to investigate fairness in an organizational context. It proposes to differentiate the two concepts of fairness and justice, elaborates on the mechanisms to embed fairness and justice into the governance of projects, and discusses the implications for individuals, organizations, and projects. It concludes with a framework visualizing the relationships.
