Abstract

Historically, Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs) have played a significant role in the provision of health care. Generally, we can distinguish four levels of health care: the individual, institutional, national, and global levels. FBOs have been stronger at the individual and in some regions at the institutional level but less strong at the global level with its public health approach. Pandemics such as HIV and Sars-Cov-2 have demonstrated how important the role of FBOs can be if they use their significant reach at the community level with active engagement and coordination at the national and global levels. All world religions should combine their significant capacity and expertise to establish a regular dialogue and consultative status with global health institutions such as WHO as the central coordinating agency but also the major funding mechanisms in global health with significant benefits for both sides.
