Immigration and economic freedom

Abstract

This chapter explores the complex relationship between immigration and economic freedom, posing the question: do immigrants value economic freedom? To this end, we review two strands of the literature. The first examines whether countries or regions with greater economic freedom tend to attract more immigrants. The second strand analyzes whether countries that receive immigrants experience changes in their economic freedom scores.
