Abstract

The chapter describes the empirical database for analyzing the coordination of healthcare and long-term care systems. Coordination is analyzed at the institutional, organizational and professional levels in four European welfare states: Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland. The main data source for the analysis is extensive interviews with major stakeholder organizations in each country, including, for example, long-term care professions, GPs, social service providers, health insurance funds, local social welfare agencies, care-management organizations, supervisory agencies, and hospitals. Interviews were conducted face-to-face and online before and during the Corona-pandemic. The chapter describes which organizations had been interviewed, the structure of the interviews, and how they were conducted and analyzed.
