Abstract

This case presents the success story of Dodo Pizza, a fast-growing international fast-food company launched in 2011 in Russia by a young visionary entrepreneur Fyodor Ovchinnikov. Actively using digital technologies, Fyodor managed to grow a small pizza making company to be one of Russia’s biggest fast-food chains. In just ten years, his company reached a USD 500M revenue, and nowadays it continues conquering the global market by actively expanding internationally. The Dodo Pizza case shows how the traditional and rather conservative fast-food industry, heavily dominated by international leaders such as Papa John’s and Domino’s Pizza, is being challenged by an industry newcomer that has managed to master digital technologies. The story elaborates how digital disruption helps to enhance customer experience and build a sustainable business of incredible transparency and value to customers.
