Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the collective rights held by Indigenous communities and the role of companies in violating and protecting them. It frames Indigenous rights as additional to the traditional suite of individual human rights and articulates why they are difficult to protect. With this background, it lays out approaches to teaching Indigenous rights within a broader business and human rights curriculum. It provides simulations, in-class activities, and teaching guidance on some of the key challenges in Indigenous rights and corporate actions.
