Environmental justice

Abstract

This chapter engages with several theories in order explore a series of explanations for the driving forces behind environmental injustices and environmental justice politics more broadly, as well as demonstrating how these phenomena impact people and ecosystems across the globe. The multidisciplinary field of environmental justice studies has become a lively space in which scholars continue to develop complex and nuanced understandings for why socioenvironmental injustices take root and persist across geography and time. Furthermore, researchers have recently argued that we must also develop tools for framing and addressing environmental justice struggles through a multispecies lens.
