Abstract

This short overview gives the interested reader a glimpse at the diversity of experimental research in financial accounting. We highlight key characteristics of financial accounting experiments and we discuss examples of main topics and recent trends in experimental research published in top-tier accounting journals. As a result, this overview exemplifies what makes experimental accounting research unique, thus illustrating its raison d'être in the research world.
