Abstract

This chapter examines accountability in Korea’s SME financial policy and argues that there is a lack of clear policy objectives. It examines reasons for the poor performance of the government programs to assist SMEs in the financial market, the lack of an institutional scheme to secure the accountability of policymakers, and suggests ways to improve effectiveness and efficiency of government policies by strengthening institutional schemes for accountability.
