Abstract

Chapter 2 builds the Sustainable Model Rule (SMR) for ETS design upon which the authors will evaluate the design of nine real-life ETS implemented in Europe, North America, Oceania and Asia (Chapters 3 - 8). The authors adopt a sustainability economics approach and show how carbon markets should be designed in order to be environmentally effective, economically efficient, and socially just.
