Abstract

Chapter 10 provides the results of the empirical research on the political economy of ETS in Australia and explains why the CPM eventually failed. Similar to chapters 9 and 11, this chapter confirms the general usefulness of the Public Choice approach, but also identifies the need for an extension with respect to the societal context and additional political actors, which will be outlined in more detail in chapter 12.
