Territoriality and the European infrastructure system

Abstract

This chapter explores the process of infrastructural integration across the European region. The chapter examines the pattern of European Infrastructural Integration within the context of notion of state territoriality. The chapter argues that the overlap between territorial and geo-strategy creates a driver for infrastructural integration within Europe based upon what is termed co-operative territoriality. This notion of co-operative territoriality is then outlined within the context of the process of European Integration highlighting that co-operation between states in terms of infrastructural integration has been a long standing and on-going theme between not only member states of the EU but also across the European region more generally.
