Abstract

This chapter, firstly, provides a brief background on PPP development in mainland China, including the macro-institutional transformation and direct driving factors in PPP application; followed by a review on the four stages of PPP development. It then introduces the formation process and present situation of the PPP regulatory framework and institutional framework, as well as the PPP market, of the overall investment, investor characteristics and future directions in China. This chapter is designed to serve as a reference for PPP development in other countries or regions.
