Abstract

This chapter presents a reflection on the epistemological and political logics that traverse migration studies in Latin America across three dimensions: (1) the growing heterogeneity of people on the move, and the need to rethink the conceptual categories with which migration is approached; (2) the dialogue with, and appropriation of, analytical frameworks produced in other regions within Latin American studies on migration; and (3) the political agendas of both Latin America and Northern states and their selective influence on the production of knowledge.
