Abstract

Promoting product circulation is important in realizing a green economy, where remanufacturing is a major factor. This chapter takes up remanufacturing and presents its prospects and challenges. Remanufacturing has good effects on material saving, energy-saving, and economic benefits, even compared to recycling, a major means of material circulation today. Remanufacturing occurs in such industries as aerospace, machinery, automotive parts, printing machines, etc. However, there is still a lot of room for further growth and wide societal adoption. For remanufacturing to be widespread, technological development challenges, alongside market, regulatory, and core collection barriers, must be overcome. Also, industries must incorporate remanufacturing into their product designs, businesses, and new business models.
