Abstract

Major infrastructure projects are in the public eye. Renovating an already chronically congested motorway in a densely populated area for 24 months causes additional traffic jams, lost working time, more fuel and CO2 consumption and billions of euros. Is it therefore wiser to redesign the processes and completely close a motorway for only 3 months, something that was perceived as a taboo? The aim of this chapter is to explain the success of Annegret Schaber who developed and implemented a new process by using the Person-Job fit theory, the Job Crafting theory and the Voice Behaviour theory. The biography of Annegret Schaber and the analysis of her competences will help to understand her behavior in a project that is entitled a milestone in public infrastructure construction in Germany.
