Abstract

This chapter begins by defining environmental disputes and explains how the development of international environmental law impacts judicial procedures. In doing so, it highlights how environmental disputes pose specific challenges to international courts and tribunals. The key argument of this chapter, which is expanded on throughout the book, focuses on whether and how international courts and tribunals can adapt their judicial practices to better suit the needs of environmental disputes.
