Abstract

A clear and easily graspable structure will help the dissertation/thesis-writer and the reader alike. From explaining the fundamental problem, and formulating the related research questions, through establishing why you have designed your investigation in a particular way, to actually doing the investigation and so attempting to answer the initially posed questions - everything needs to click neatly together to form a coherent whole. You can also lead the reader by the hand, stopping at crucial structural intersections to explain more about how the components fit together. This chapter walks you through many common pitfalls and potential solutions when devising a viable structure.
