Abstract

This chapter aims at investigating the potential inspirational role of cultural heritage on local creativity, according to the idea that the environment deeply affects one’s thoughts and feelings and that cultural heritage can be a relevant characteristic of a creative environment. Other socioeconomic determinants of creativity are also taken into account and the impact of cultural heritage on artistic, scientific and economic creative talents is econometrically tested in Italian provinces (NUTS3). The results show that cultural heritage has indeed an impact on the capacity to doubt, to think critically and to innovate, in this sense positively affecting artistic and scientific creative talents.
