Abstract

This chapter deals with the issue of gender equality during the Progressive Era. Specifically, focusing on two underestimated intellectuals, namely Marianne Weber and Lou Andreas-Salomé, the aim of this chapter is to shed light on the thoughts of these two feminists. Both proposed original ideas to reach gender equality, and to rethink what feminine identity means. Their contributions still ring true today to promote progressive ideas and to set up reforms aiming to reach gender equality.
