Senior entrepreneurship perspectives in Australia

Abstract

Senior entrepreneurship is the fastest growing sector of entrepreneurship in Australia, and this chapter identifies the scope and impact of senior entrepreneurship. A high prevalence of senior entrepreneur activity is linked to positive economic and social benefits, aligned to motivation, attitudes, skills, opportunities, success, engagement, barriers, benefits, education and training, government support, life adaptations and other emergent senior entrepreneurship themes. Using data from significant entrepreneurship databases and Australian studies on this phenomenon, the analysis combines nuances specific to Australian senior entrepreneurs, together with suggestions for policy-makers and nascent senior entrepreneurs.
