Abstract

This chapter explores the multi-faceted link between USOs and regional development. The region is variously an important part of the environment that influences and individual to start a firm, is the location where jobs and wealth are subsequently located, is where there are localised catalytic effects involving different kinds of spillovers that stimulate further firm and collective activity and is where local and national policies intersect.
