Arbeitszufriedenheit in Deutschland: Messkonzepte und empirische Befunde

Abstract

Seit einigen Jahren veröffentlicht der Deutsche Gewerkschaftsbund (DGB) den Index "Gute Arbeit", der die Qualität der Arbeit aus Sicht der Beschäftigten messen soll. Der Index vermittelt ein Bild "mittelmäßiger Arbeit" in Deutschland, weil er die Messlatte für das Prädikat "gute Arbeit" sehr hoch legt. Dabei ist der Index mit einer ganzen Reihe methodischer Probleme verbunden. Eine alternative Methodik zur empirischen Analyse der Arbeitszufriedenheit in Deutschland zeigt hingegen ein überwiegend hohes Maß an Zufriedenheit, das im Zeitablauf kaum variiert. Dafür treten zum Teil sehr deutliche Unterschiede in der Arbeitszufriedenheit zwischen einzelnen soziodemografischen Gruppen auf. Zum Beispiel sind Selbstständige und Auszubildende zufriedener als andere Beschäftigte. Einige dieser Differenzierungen haben kausalen Charakter. Generell führt eine komplexe Aufgabe in einem stabilen beruflichen und privaten Umfeld zu höherer Arbeitszufriedenheit. Demgegenüber bewirken eine berufliche Unter- oder Überforderung, Unsicherheit in Bezug auf die berufliche Zukunft und ungünstige persönliche Umstände – besonders hinsichtlich der Gesundheit – ein geringeres Maß an Arbeitszufriedenheit.
