Abstract

Der Klimawandel ist eines der bestimmenden Themen unserer Zeit. Auf internationaler Ebene haben speziell die Naturkundemuseen und Science Center erkannt, dass sie sich in der öffentlichen Klimadebatte neu positionieren müssen, um ihre Relevanz für die Gesellschaft zu sichern. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird auf Basis der internationalen Ansätze ermittelt, wie Naturkundemuseen und Science Center in Norddeutschland aktuell die öffentlichen Erwartungen bedienen. Die Ergebnisse der quantitativen Forschungen belegen: Das Potenzial ist groß, aber die Institutionen bleiben mit ihren Angeboten und ihrem bisher gezeigten Engagement in der Klimadebatte hinter den Ansprüchen der Öffentlichkeit zurück. Naturkundemuseen und Science Center sind gut beraten, mit Maßnahmen zur Stärkung ihrer Position in der Gesellschaft gegenzusteuern - Handlungsempfehlungen dazu gibt diese Arbeit.
