Auswirkungen der COVID-19-Pandemie auf die Innovationsfähigkeit von Unternehmen in Österreich

Abstract

Die Studie untersucht die Entwicklung der Innovationstätigkeit von Unternehmen in Österreich während der COVID-19-Pandemie. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass es aufgrund von Finanzierungsbeschränkungen und unternehmerischer Unsicherheit 2020 ein Einbruch bei der Unternehmensfinanzierung für Forschung und Entwicklung zu beobachten war. Dieser Rückgang wurde aber weitgehend durch einen Anstieg der öffentlichen Finanzierung ausgeglichen. Die Ausgaben für Forschung und Entwicklung durch Unternehmen dürften sich damit 2020 insgesamt stabil entwickelt haben. Dieser Befund wird durch Ergebnisse von Unternehmensbefragungen, die 2020 durchgeführt wurden, gestützt. Für 2021 deutet der Konjunkturtest des WIFO auf einen Aufholeffekt hin, wenngleich bei kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen 2021 noch eine Zurückhaltung zu erkennen war.
