Abstract

The 82nd Euroconstruct conference findings give a less optimistic outlook for the construction sectors in the 19 participating European countries. Mid-term expectations were lowered because of Brexit, weaker economic growth in China and the ongoing troubles of European banks. The biggest growth contribution in construction in 2016 will stem from Germany, but its pull on European construction will begin to fade: it will decrease to the second position in 2017, and in 2018 Germany will no longer be a significant contributor to European construction growth. For the whole period 2016-2019 construction growth in the Euroconstruct region is expected to be around 2.1 percent annually. The Euroconstruct Country Reports provide more detailed information on the construction market trends and its fundamentals in each of the 19 Euroconstruct member countries until 2019. The forecasts and analyses are presented on the country level and are based on a comparable harmonised dataset for the major construction sectors and indicators. The macroeconomic framework conditions are included additionally. – With contributions by Anders Bjerre, Jan Blahoňovský, Ludwig Dorffmeister, Josep Ramon Fontana, Anne Kathrin Funk, Anna Gáspár, Paul Groot, James Hastings, Bengt Henricson, Annette Hughes, Michael Klien, Matijas Kocijan, Vladimir Lenko, Jean-Pierre Liebaert, Nejra Macic, Ciara Morley, Renaud Muller, Barbora Pospíšilová, Stéphane Radureau, Markku Riihimäki, Emmanuel Rozenkier, Radislav Semenov, Adam Sochacki, Mariusz Sochacki, Antonella Stemperini, Deogratias Urayeneza, Conceição Vital, Michael Weingärtler, Youssef Yacoubi.
