Abstract

The 97th Euroconstruct Summer 2024 Forecast confirms the expected decline in the construction markets covered by the 19 members of the network in 2023 and shows a more pronounced downturn in 2024. The influencing factors and the sectors affected remain virtually unchanged. In particular, inflation, high interest rates and the resulting weak demand are putting pressure on building construction, especially residential construction. Only civil engineering is expected to see an increase in output, due to investment in energy and (rail) infrastructure to meet climate targets. With contributions from Anders Bjerre, Lasse Lundqvist, Martin Kyed, Nerja Macic, Mårten Pappila.
